How To Eat At A Spanish Restaurant And Not Sound Like A Moron

July 12, 2010

Last night, I ate at Mercadito Grove, and even though our waiter thought I was 16, he took time to teach me some Spanish. Probably because he’s afraid I’m going to get murdered tramping through Guatemala alone.

Que es este: What is this?

Olviado: Nevermind (For the record, I thought this was two words and had a ‘b’ in it)

Tu Tienes: Do you have?

…and then I spent three minutes trying to understand how to say “do you prefer,” and then he said he’d come to Guatemala with me, and then, we decided, would be prime time to go.
